We are thrilled to announce that "Artisan" is spinning off from its home within fashion tech news to launch as a brand-new, independent website.
Until now, we have shared the philosophies, techniques, and culture behind craftsmanship through interviews with workshops and artisans across Japan. With this renewal, we have also unveiled a new brand logo and are set to expand our role even further.
We are redefining ourselves, moving beyond our original role as a media outlet that simply "conveys tradition." Our goal is to evolve into a "creator of value," driven by the dual engines of research and development.

Building the Ultimate Craftsmanship Archive: "If It's About Crafts, It's on Artisan"
Artisan aims to be a media platform that creates new value for crafts in collaboration with artisans. While grounded in objective research from workshop interviews, we will also take on the role of creators ourselves, engaging in product development and collaborations that leverage the power of technology.
Our editorial starting point is built on the twin pillars of "tradition" and "the avant-garde." By blending elements of traditional craftsmanship like master techniques and history with avant-garde elements like technology and prototypes, we create context and value that you won't find on any other media platform.
We will deliver our articles as creative works in themselves and also develop our own technologies and products. This marks our evolution from being just an "entry point" to craftsmanship to becoming a force that forges new "outlets" for it. We are expanding our vision beyond Japan to a global audience, striving to become the go-to archive where people say, "If it's about traditional crafts, it's on Artisan."

Introducing "Yobiiro": The Intersection of Craft and Technology
As part of this renewal, we are excited to add a new "Yobiiro" page.
"Yobiiro" is a project dedicated to awakening the senses, emotions, and the dormant sensibilities within us. We achieve this by co-creating with designers and traditional artisans, using cutting-edge material technologies to propose new products to society. Here, we will present new value in the form of tangible products, drawing on the knowledge gained from Artisan's extensive interviews and research.
The new site is structured around three main pathways: "to read," "to buy," and "to see." In addition to publishing articles on crafts and selling products, we will also share information on exhibitions and events. It's our endeavor to broaden opportunities for people to encounter craftsmanship, both online and offline.

Forging a New Future for the Value of Craft
Traditional craft is not just a set of techniques passed down from the past; it is a practice that has continuously evolved with each era. In a sense, craft can be seen as an accumulation of the advanced ideas of its time. Artisan captures this essence, navigating between tradition and the avant-garde to create new value.
As we embark on this new journey as an independent site, Artisan is evolving from a place to "learn about" crafts to a platform to "engage with" them. Stay tuned for what's next from Artisan—we promise you won't be disappointed.
We'd love to hear from you! Please feel free to reach out via our contact form with your feedback on our articles, new research ideas, or collaboration proposals.
